What are the requirements?
The basic requirements to become a pilot are that you are at least 17 years of age, are in good health, and can speak, write and understand English. You also need to pass a medical exam.  The Transportation Security Administration has also instituted certain checks on citizenship; all students are required to have a birth certificate and/or passport on file with us affirming they are born or naturalized citizens of the United States.
How difficult is it?
Flying is not a particularly difficult skill to learn. With flight instruction that helps you develop a “feel” for the airplane and learn proper procedures, and ground school that teaches you the rules and regulations and theory, most anyone can learn to fly. However, as with any other skill you master, it takes time and effort. If you are willing to invest the time and effort, the rewards are endless!
How long will it take?
The time it takes for most people to obtain their private pilot's license ranges anywhere from 40 to 70 hours of flying time. This includes time spent with an instructor aboard and solo time. This all depends on how prepared you are for the lessons and the frequency of flying time. Generally, the more times a week you can fly, the faster you can obtain your license.
The average student completes their training requirements in 4 to 6 months.
How much does it cost?
You can generally expect to pay from $6,000 to $8,000 for a good private pilot flight school.  Flight training financing is available--call or email us for details!
What are your hours of operation?
Advanced Flight Training is open seven days a week from 8 am until dark. Other hours are available by appointment.
Do I have to take any tests?
To receive your student pilot certificate, you must pass a pre-solo knowledge test. To apply to obtain your private pilot's license, you must then pass a written examination. This is largely based on the rules and regulations of flying. You must also work out the details of a hypothetical flight.
The second test you must pass is one that examines your flight abilities. You must demonstrate your ability to maneuver the airplane safely and confidently. This check ride is given by a FAA certified examiner.
How soon can I start?
